Starting with WINDpaddling is easier than you might think. If you already have experience with paddleboarding, you'll pick up the basics very quickly. And if you're a complete beginner, we recommend getting comfortable with regular paddling first.
What will you need?
To try WINDpaddling, you'll need:
-
a paddleboard,
-
a WINDpaddling set,
-
a life vest and a safety leash.
The system is designed to work with most standard paddleboards.
What are the ideal conditions?
For your first rides, we recommend:
-
calm water,
-
light to moderate wind,
-
plenty of open space without obstacles.
It's best to start in conditions where you feel safe on the paddleboard and have enough time to try everything at your leisure.
How does the first ride work?
Rig the sail onto your paddle and get on the water just like regular paddleboarding. If a favorable wind starts to blow, unfurl the sail, prepare your paddle for sailing mode, and let the wind help you move.
When the wind dies down or you want to continue paddling, simply roll the sail back onto the paddle and continue on your way.
Safety first
As with any water sport, we recommend:
-
always wearing a life vest,
-
securing your paddleboard with a leash,
-
monitoring the weather forecast,
-
not overestimating your abilities.
It's best to start in light winds and gradually gain experience.
Enjoy the wind to the fullest
WINDpaddling offers a new way to use your paddleboard. You don't have to choose between paddling and sailing – you can enjoy both during a single outing.
Just hit the water, harness the power of the wind, and discover a new dimension of paddleboarding.
