How is WINDpaddling different from windsurfing?

Čím se WINDpaddling liší od windsurfingu?

At first glance, they may look similar – in both cases, you use the power of the wind to move across the water. In reality, however, WINDpaddling and windsurfing are two different sports, each offering a unique experience.

Windsurfing

Windsurfing uses a fixed mast with a sail, which is connected to the board. It is primarily designed for sailing and can offer high speed and sporty performance in stronger winds.

However, if the wind weakens, you have to rely on the power of the sail or return by other means. Classic windsurfing is not intended for regular paddling.

WINDpaddling

WINDpaddling is based on paddleboarding. The basic element is a paddle, which serves not only for paddling but, after a simple extension, also as a mast for the sail.

When it's windy, you unfurl the sail and sail. When the wind dies down, you quickly fold the sail back onto the paddle and continue with classic paddling.

Thanks to this, you are not solely dependent on the wind and can enjoy your ride even in variable conditions.

Main Differences

WINDSURFING WINDPADDLING
Sport focused on sailing Combination of paddling and sailing
Uses a classic mast Paddle becomes a mast after extension
Cannot be paddled normally You can switch to paddling at any time
Works best in stable wind Suitable even in variable wind
Separate equipment Based on a regular paddleboard

Which sport is for you?

If you are looking for speed, sporty riding, and stronger winds, you will enjoy windsurfing.

However, if you want to combine calm paddling with the ability to use the wind without having to change equipment or return to shore, WINDpaddling is ideal for you.

Two different sports, the same joy of the wind

Both windsurfing and WINDpaddling have their place on the water. While windsurfing is built on sailing, WINDpaddling offers greater versatility. When it's windy, you sail. When it's not windy, you simply continue paddling.

The ability to smoothly switch between both modes makes WINDpaddling a unique way to enjoy paddleboarding in almost any conditions.
